Jamie's Corner
A Word from our Executive Director
Zooooom! That was the sound of the summer rushing by. My younger son is back at school. The older one, who is in college, spent his summer in Irvine but came home briefly to do laundry and get a hug. I have a vague memory of being in Idaho for a week and now whoooooosh! we are off and running on a new year. If you didn't make it to the pool this summer, you still have a chance this weekend. Come on out and enjoy our last Saturday Night Splashdown as well as the great weather. The Farmers' Market has a new addition - The Lafayette Book Store Bookmobile! I love bookmobiles! I remember when I was a kid and the bookmobile would come to our street. I was a passionate reader as a child and that love of reading was nurtured by having a library right outside my front door on a weekly basis. Now you too can enjoy the experience. The bookmobile will be parked from 9 AM - 1 PM on Fridays in our parking lot through October. I wandered in and bought "Eat, Pray, Love" which I wanted to read before I saw the movie. For those of you who have read it, she just left Italy. I'm waiting for the Javier Bardem character to arrive and spice things up... It is with sadness that I relay Dorothy Millman passed away last Friday. Together with her husband Sidney, z'l, the Millmans generously helped to sustain our Adult Day Program which bears their name. Dorothy lived for the past six years at the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living in Danville. A memorial service is being planned for her at Reutlinger and we will let you know the date as soon as we know. Program guides have been printed and mailed; one should be at your door shortly. Enjoy the long weekend and Shabbat Shalom,
Jamie |
